Brilliant photo Peter. I remember seeing bitterns quite frequently when I was growing up near Westport. Are there really only 30 left in Canterbury. I wonder if they are still surviving over on the Coast.
Yes Marilyn the West Coast has the best bittern populations in the South Island- but the bird's distribution is becoming increasingly fragmented. Regards Peter
